OUR STORY
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1938 on Northwest 18th Avenue and 62nd Street under the leadership of Rev. Luther Wallace and the late Moderator Rev. J. I. Ross, presiding. Four other members were present. They labored and toiled for three years at that location, and the membership grew. In 1941, the church moved to a wooden building at 1395 NW 69th Street in Miami, FL.
In 1942, Rev. Wallace resigned and Rev. A. M. Griffin was called and installed as our spiritual leader and served us well. Rev. Griffin established several ministries such as the Deacons Board, Trustee Board, Choirs, and Usher’s Boards.

Due to the growth and progress of the membership, the old church building was demolished and a new sanctuary was erected by 1960. At that time, Rev. Griffin changed the name from, "Shiloh Baptist Church" to "New Shiloh Baptist Church". The body of the church continued to multiply under Rev. Griffin’s administration.
On July 3, 1973, the Lord called Pastor A. M. Griffin home after leading God’s people untiringly for 31 years. Again, the membership was without a pastor for four months until the Lord sent us Rev. Arthur Jackson, Jr. as our third pastoral leader.
Rev. Arthur Jackson, Jr. was installed as Pastor on February 24, 1974. Under his leadership, the membership grew by leaps and bounds. Again, the sanctuary had become too small. The Pastor, Deacons, and membership agreed to purchase another building.

On January 23, 1983, we marched into our new sanctuary, at 1350 NW 95th St. The very next year, on September 7, 1984, at 1:00 am, the building was destroyed by fire. Amid the ashes, Pastor Jackson encouraged the grieving congregation, “We’ll Rise Again!”

Through God’s direction and providence, our church building was reconstructed and we marched into our new sanctuary on March 22, 1987. Under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Jackson, Jr., the congregation grew to over 3,000 members, and the ministries increased tremendously. In November 1999, New Shiloh purchased a building at 10500 N.W. 7th Avenue and named it the Arthur Jackson, Jr. Resource Center.

Noted as a community and denominational leader, Pastor Jackson was elected Moderator of the Florida East Coast Baptist Association in 1995 and elected President of the Florida General Baptist Convention in 2001. That same year, Miami-Dade County changed NW 95 Street to "Rev. Dr. Arthur Jackson Jr. Boulevard".

On August 8, 2002, the Lord called Pastor Arthur Jackson, Jr. to his heavenly home. Pastor Jackson served as our Senior Pastor and Teacher for almost 30 years with nearly 50 spiritual sons preaching the Gospel. Amid a grieving congregation, Rev. D.L. Powell, who had been hand-selected by Pastor Jackson a month before his demise to serve as his Executive Pastor and impending successor, rose to provide comfort and leadership toward brighter days.
In October 2002, Rev. D.L. Powell was installed as the Senior Pastor and Teacher of New Shiloh. The church continued to grow as Pastor Powell expanded the administrative and ministerial structure, paid off and renovated the Arthur Jackson, Jr. Resource Center, and increased the church's technological and auxiliary strength.

In March 2020, the COVID-19 virus plagued the entire world, claiming the lives of millions of people. As businesses, travel industries, schools, retail companies, and religious institutions began to close due to a global pandemic, Pastor D.L. Powell's shepherding shined bright as he led our church through uncharted territory. By the grace of God and wise leadership, New Shiloh still thrived through the pandemic years by streaming weekly services, launching a new “NSMBC Miami” App, implementing a Drive-thru giving process, paying off church vehicles, and renovating interior areas of the campus.

In December 2022, Pastor D. L. Powell announced his retirement at the close of 2023 after faithfully serving for over 21 years at New Shiloh. Pastor Powell would name his Executive Pastor, Reverend Al Jackson, Jr., his immediate successor. After a year-long celebration of the 21 years of leadership, Pastor Powell retired from senior pastorate and accepted the role of Teaching Pastor, at the request of Rev. Jackson.

Rev. Alphonso J. Jackson, Jr. was officially installed as Senior Pastor on March 10, 2024. During his first year, we experienced remarkable growth within the congregation. The Young Adults Ministry was revitalized and saw an increase in membership. Additionally, various areas of our infrastructure received much-needed upgrades. We also expanded our community outreach efforts, further strengthening our connection with those around us.
